Home Security: Fire, Alarm, and Emergency Medical Systems

While there are many brands of products available, the following facts apply to all Systems:
(1) There is no such thing as a packaged system that will automatically be best for you.
(2) With newer technologies and UL listed supervised wireless options, the choice between a wireless or hard-wired approach (or combination) should be made in accordance with your construction characteristics-not at the urging of a salesman who only offers one option.
(3) Equipment listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is better than equipment that is not.
(4) The selection of the installation and service company is at least as important as the selection of equipment.

A security system that is designed through the combined efforts of an 3C Systems and the client will require effort and a visit to the home. The reward is a system that will accommodate the particular needs of your family, provide the highest level of protection consistent with the budget, and perhaps most importantly, be so convenient that it will be used regularly long after the cost or reason for installing the system is forgotten.

The components' of such a system can generally be divided into the following categories:

Control: The control includes the electronics, standby backup power, communications equipment, etc. It is usually installed in a closet and is rarely accessed by the client. The control is where all of the wires end up or where the wireless signals are received.

8-64 Zone Control Panel
  • 8 zones on main control panel
  • Expandable using hardwire, wireless, addressable modules and keypad zones
  • 8 partitions
  • 256 event buffer
  • 4 on-board PGM outputs:
    -Expandable to 14 (PC5204, PC5208)
  • Commercial fire version available:
    -PC5020CF (comes with PC5700)
  • Supports all Power Series modules
8-32 Zone Control Panel
  • 8 zones on main control panel
  • Expandable using hardwire, wireless, addressable modules and keypad zones
  • 2 partitions
  • 128 event buffer
  • 2 on-board PGM outputs:
    -Expandable to 14 (PC5204, PC5208)
  • See Zone Expansion Modules for additional support

Remote Stations: Often called command stations, keypads, or touchpad's, the remote stations are convenient locations from which the control status is determined, and from where the system may be disarmed, armed, or reset. When the system is turned off, a security code or combination is required Optionally the systems will allow the client to use any telephone in the home (or in the world) to accomplish what was once only possible from a remote station.

Protective Circuit: The protective circuit is the array of sensors and devices that allow the control to determine whether someone is entering or already in the house. The protective circuit is generally divided into two areas, the perimeter and the interior. Most installations will employ sensors for both areas. Perimeter protective devices are appropriate both when the family is asleep, and when the home is empty, this equipment would concentrate on entry points at the exterior doors, windows, and glass. interior protection is most appropriate when the home is empty, these devices are strategically placed in passageways to "trap" an intruder regardless of the initial means of entry.

Alarm and Reporting: When a hostile entry is detected, a variety of reactions are available, including: audible alarm s, interior and exterior sirens, some of which speak English: lights, either existing house lights or strobe lights; 24 hour central station monitoring by Digital Communications, Cellemetry or Internet and authorized appropriate response service options.

The equipment above comprises what we call the “controlled" system. Controlled equipment is available to detect an intrusion at your discretion, you determine when and how much equipment should be protecting your home at any given time.

Listed below are some options for what is called 24 hour circuits. These devices would be tied into the same control as the protective circuit and remote stations, but since it is difficult to predict the event of a fire, robbery, or medical emergency, these devices are always available whether the intrusion system is on or off.

24-Hour Fire: Both heat and smoke detectors are required. In this application, reliability is essential.
24-Hour Panic: For times when you might wish that the system had been on, both hard-wired and portable wireless buttons.
24-Hour Robbery: Silent sneaky equipment for the most unlikely but dangerous possibility.
24-Hour Medical Alert: Press a medical button and you call the paramedics, great for baby-sitters, parents with small kids and high-risk medical problems
24-Hour Special: Anything that plugs in, Gets hot or cold or wet can be monitored, the only limit is your imagination.

Every 3C Systems security system comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty.
